Summer Festival in front of Germany's Oldest Pier

The Ahlbeck Summer Festival is one of the most traditional folk festivals on the island of Usedom. The venue is the beach promenade of Ahlbeck – a historic boulevard with spa architecture, leading directly to the listed Ahlbeck Pier, the oldest preserved pier in Germany. The organizer is the municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf, to which the seaside resort of Ahlbeck belongs.

Four Days of Events Right by the Sea

Over four days, the Summer Festival offers a varied program:

• Arts and Crafts Market with jewelry, clothing, wood and metal works
• Amusement Rides such as bumper cars and a Ferris wheel
• Walk-about Acts: mimes, clowns, jugglers on the promenade
• Live Concerts on the concert stage every evening
• Food Stalls with regional specialties and drinks

Beach Fireworks as the Highlight

On Saturday evening, the sky over the Baltic Sea lights up: a large beach fireworks display forms the traditional highlight of the Summer Festival. Thousands of visitors gather along the promenade and on the beach to experience the pyrotechnic spectacle over the sea.

Kaiserbäder Tradition

Ahlbeck, along with Heringsdorf and Bansin, is one of the three Kaiserbäder (Imperial Spas) on Usedom. These spa towns developed in the 19th century into fashionable travel destinations for German and European nobility – a heritage that still shapes the promenade with its white villas today. The Summer Festival vividly continues this tradition, attracting families, holidaymakers, and locals alike every year. Ahlbeck is located in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, directly on the Polish border.
