Overview

From November 11 to 16, 2025, AFRIKAMERA was themed CHANGE: films that told stories of social upheaval, gender, and generational issues on the African continent. The festival opened at City Kino Wedding with Erige Sehiri's film 'Promis le ciel', the director was personally present.

The 2025 CHANGE edition was the second thematic block in the four-year cycle 2024–2027. Six festival days showcased contemporary African cinema that focused on social change, role models, and new narrative forms. Central was a focus on films by and about women and female-identifying filmmakers, who showed their realities beyond stereotypical images.

AFRIKAMERA 2025 opened at City Kino Wedding with the film 'Promis le ciel' by director Erige Sehiri, who came to Berlin personally for a Q&A. In the following days, feature films, documentaries, and short films were shown at Silent Green and other venues – each accompanied by film discussions with filmmakers, curators, and industry representatives.
