Advent Tradition in the Heart of Damme
The Adventlicher Markt Damme has been a firm fixture in Damme's Christmas program for many years. It is jointly supported by the town of Damme, local associations, and the Kunst+Kultur-Kreis Damme e.V., creating a special atmosphere in early Advent that attracts locals and visitors from the surrounding communities of the Oldenburger Münsterland.
Leiber Barn as the Centerpiece
The historic Scheune Leiber (Leiber barn) forms the striking center of the market. The old half-timbered building offers a sheltered setting for exhibitors and visitors under its high roof and is particularly atmospherically staged with Christmas lighting and decorations. The market extends around the barn to neighboring squares and streets in the city center.
Diverse Offerings
The range includes Christmas gift items, handmade Christmas tree decorations, Advent wreaths, floristry, woodwork, pottery, felt and knitwear, craft supplies, regional foods, honey products, liqueurs, and jams. Associations offer hot dishes such as pea soup, bratwurst, potato pancakes, or crêpes. Mulled wine, hot chocolate, and punch are just as essential as the traditional cookie stand.
Atmospheric Ambiance
Damme's compact city center with its historic buildings creates an intimate market atmosphere where people can meet, chat, and enjoy each other's company. Musical contributions from local choirs, brass bands, and schools complete the program and provide moments of reflection during the pre-Christmas season.

Market Days Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
- Saturday, December 5th: Opening at 12 p.m., market activities in the Scheune Leiber and surrounding streets, musical contributions from local choirs and brass bands in the afternoon, mulled wine service, children's program, and craft activities
- Sunday, December 6th: Market activities from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., traditional visit from St. Nicholas for children, further musical contributions, cozy closing in the glow of the fairy lights
