The Abenheimer Weintage

The Abenheimer Weintage are a two-part event format organized by the Worms-Abenheim vintners' community. In late spring, there's the White Wine Party, and in November, the Red Wine Party — both take place at Weingut Klosterhof Lösch on Kirschgartenstraße, bringing together vintners, their wines, and an interested audience for a focused weekend.

Rheinhessen and Red Wine

Although primarily a white wine region, Rheinhessen has also made a name for itself in red wines over the past two decades. Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Dornfelder, Portugieser, and Frühburgunder are increasingly finding enthusiasts on the region's loamy-calcareous hills. The Red Wine Party in Abenheim showcases this development in a concentrated form.

Late Autumn Atmosphere

The Red Wine Party takes place during the colder season — mid-November. Consequently, the atmosphere shifts indoors at the Klosterhof: warm rooms, candlelight, robust red wines, hearty food, often with live music in the background. An atmospheric event that captures the best of late autumn wine culture.

Worms-Abenheim, with its vineyards on the edge of the Rheinhessen hill country, is a worthwhile destination even in autumn. The Red Wine Party offers a good opportunity to discover the red-wine-friendly vineyard sites, several wineries, and the village ensemble that characterizes the local scenery.
