Overview

The 900th anniversary year of the Rot an der Rot Monastery's founding was launched on September 7, 2025, with a solemn Pontifical Mass, celebrated by Abbot Leopold Baumberger of Stift Wilten — the only surviving daughter monastery of the Mönchsroth line. The first concerts of the 'Klang-Welten' series and introductory lectures paved the way for the actual anniversary year in 2026.

Kick-off of the Anniversary Year in Autumn 2025

On September 7, 2025, diocesan administration, the parish community, and the municipal administration of Rot an der Rot gathered for a solemn Pontifical Mass in the Baroque St. Verena Monastery Church. Abbot Leopold Baumberger of the Tyrolean Stift Wilten — the only surviving daughter monastery of the original Mönchsroth line — led the main celebration, thus restoring the historical lineage of the Premonstratensian monastery foundation.

Following the launch, the first concerts of the 'Klang-Welten' series began in the monastery church, whose excellent acoustics supported the sacred music programs. Lectures on monastery history, spirituality, and the significance of the Norbertine charism completed the preliminary program for the actual anniversary year in 2026.
