Grand festival weekend for the 600th city anniversary on the Selb Goldberg
Selb in the Fichtelgebirge is known far beyond Upper Franconia as a porcelain city — in 2026, the city looks back on 600 years of city history. Selb was granted city rights in 1426; six centuries later, this anniversary is celebrated with a grand festival weekend on the Goldberg, the traditional festival grounds above the city.
The official ceremony on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 4:30 PM marks the festive start. The Goldberg will be buzzing on both festival days: the city community, clubs, initiatives, and volunteers are jointly creating a lively, diverse program — "lively, diverse, and full of heart," as the city announces. The ambition is for it to be an anniversary that makes history.
The festival weekend is the highlight of an entire anniversary year: throughout 2026, a colorful program of events, activities, and contributions from clubs will accompany the 600-year celebration. The complete program can be found in the anniversary flyer and at www.selb.de/600Jahre.
