27th edition of the 3-Türme-Weinwanderung in Nierstein on May 1st with refreshments at Wartturm, Schlossturm, and Trutzturm
May 1st has a tradition as a hiking day in Rhenish Hesse, and in Nierstein, one of the region's best-known hiking events has been held for 27 editions: the 3-Türme-Weinwanderung. In 2026, the Nierstein Tourist Association invites you to the 27th edition on Friday, May 1st, 2026.
The concept combines three elements of Nierstein: the historic towers, the vineyards, and the Rhenish Hessian festival culture. The hiking route leads to three towers that have been part of the cityscape for centuries:
The main route measures 14 kilometers and connects the three towers with the Nierstein vineyards. Those who want more distance can choose the longer variant over the Brudersberg, covering 17 kilometers. Both routes are moderately challenging and lead through vineyards, forests, past classified Roter Hang sites, and offer ever-new panoramic views of the Rhine.
The start is possible from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Nierstein Market Square; alternatively, you can start from 10 AM to 12:30 PM at the REWE parking lot. Participants choose their own pace, take breaks at the refreshment stations, and enjoy the hike as a collective experience.
Refreshment stands will be set up at all three towers and at the Rote-Hang-Hütte. Nierstein vintners will serve their wines: Riesling from the Roter Hang in various styles, Spätburgunder, Frühburgunder, Silvaner, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Rosé, and Sekt. The Rhenish Hessian culinary offerings include Spundekäs, Handkäs mit Musik, Bratwurst, steaks, Flammkuchen, homemade salads, and, depending on the station, specialities from local clubs.
The 3-Türme-Weinwanderung is one of the most popular events in the Nierstein festival calendar, attracting thousands of hikers annually from Rhenish Hesse, Mainz, the Rheingau, and the wider region. A day that ideally combines hiking, wine, history, and conviviality.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of the 3-Türme-Wanderung: two route options, flexible start times, refreshment stations at the three towers and the Rote-Hang-Hütte, supported by the Nierstein Tourist Association and local clubs.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Nierstein Tourist Association in due course. The structure will follow the proven key points of previous years.
