125 Years of Irmenseul Volunteer Fire Brigade

The Irmenseul Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1901 and will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2026. For over five generations, citizens of Irmenseul have undertaken firefighting, technical assistance, flood protection, and fire safety education in their free time. The anniversary honors this commitment and places it at the center of a community festival that extends far beyond the club's boundaries.

Two Days of Anniversary Festival

On June 19 and 20, 2026, a two-day festival program will be held in Irmenseul. The focus will be on the ceremonial act with speeches, honors for deserving comrades, and greetings from politics and friendly brigades. A parade will bring friendly fire brigades, music bands, and clubs through the village. A demonstration of capabilities on the festival grounds will showcase modern fire brigade vehicles and equipment.

Ceremonial Act and Honors

The ceremonial act is the festive core of every fire brigade anniversary. Representatives from the municipality of Lamspringe, the district of Hildesheim, the district fire brigade, and friendly brigades are expected. Comrades who have served for many years will be honored with badges and awards. The history of the brigade will be honored retrospectively in words and pictures.

Parade through Irmenseul

The parade on Saturday or Sunday will bring the festively uniformed fire brigades from the region to Irmenseul. Marching bands, music bands, and floats will accompany the parade, which will be lined by numerous spectators from the village and neighboring communities.

Demonstration of Capabilities and Family Program

At the festival grounds, the fire brigade will present its operational vehicles, equipment, and demonstrations. The youth fire brigade will showcase its work, and fire safety education will be conveyed in a playful manner. For children, there will be a water spray wall for self-extinguishing, a bouncy castle, face painting, and small games. The family program ensures that the anniversary becomes an experience for all age groups.

Social Festivities

In the evenings, the festival tent will become the social hub of the weekend. Dance evenings with live bands or DJs, shared meals and drinks, and the exchange between comrades, guests, and citizens will characterize the evenings.

Anchored in the Village Community

Like many fire brigade anniversaries, the 125th anniversary of the FFW Irmenseul is supported by an organizing committee consisting of members of the brigade, the local history society, the church, and dedicated individuals. Preparations take several months and mobilize the entire village community.
