In 2025, the Rettgenstedt village community began preparations for the major anniversary year 2026. As part of the annual summer festivals, the village's history was a theme, registrations for the 2026 parade were accepted, and the program for the anniversary weekend was coordinated. The local heritage association Heimatverein Ostramondra/Rettgenstedt e.V. organized meetings, research, and collections of historical documents.
The year 2025 was dedicated to preparation for Rettgenstedt. The heritage association collected historical sources on the village's 1150-year history, organized association meetings, and coordinated the program for the 2026 anniversary with the municipality of Ostramondra. In the summer of 2025, the traditional village festival also took place — an opportunity to announce the upcoming festival year to a wider audience and recruit participants.
