One Hundred Years of Fire Department

In 2026, the Volunteer Fire Department of the Wölpinghausen community will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Since 1926, volunteer helpers have been at the service of the public, responding to fires, providing technical assistance at accidents, ensuring fire safety at events, and making a significant contribution to the sense of security in the village. A century of this volunteer work is an occasion that holds significance far beyond the club itself.

Family Day on May 24, 2026

The Family Day on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 11 AM to 6 PM, is designed as a broad festival offering. Families with children will find hands-on activities, game stations, bouncy castles, and demonstrations by the emergency services. Adults will have the opportunity to learn about the history and current work of the fire department; a historical exhibition documents the club's milestones from 1926 to the present day. Food and drinks will be provided by the club.

Program Items for All Ages

The focus of the Family Day will be on experience-based activities related to fire and water. The emergency services will show how a fire response unfolds, demonstrate equipment and vehicles, and let children try holding the hose under supervision. A fat fire explosion show, a demonstration in a real fire scenario, and the presentation of breathing apparatus equipment are among the classic program elements that will thrill the audience.

Anniversary Year with a Second Event

The Family Day in May 2026 is not the only anniversary event. In November 2026, another anniversary event will follow, which will likely provide the official framework: a ceremonial act, honors, and representatives from politics, fire department associations, and friendly fire departments are expected. Thus, the entire anniversary year 2026 will be marked by festivities honoring the centenary.
