Newroz Hamburg – Kurdish New Year and Spring Festival

Newroz 2025 in Hamburg took place around March 20 and 21 – as always, spread across several locations and organisers. The spring reception at City Hall, organised by the Left Party faction, brought together politicians and diaspora representatives. Vedat Demirbaş and fellow musicians performed a concert on a donation basis at the Linkstreff.

The central open-air celebration with fire and Halay dances was organised by Newroz Hamburg e.V. The event combined cultural symbolism – jumping over the fire, dance chain, traditional music – with political speeches on the situation of Kurds in the Middle East. Anf-news.com and several local media reported on the "atmospheric Newroz celebration in Hamburg".
