Overview

The Zabbath Festival 2025 took place, as every year, at the end of August at the Z-Bau Nürnberg. Four stages, around ten underground metal bands, a clear political stance against racism, sexism, homophobia, and NSBM. The festival is a fixture in the North Bavarian underground metal scene.

The 2025 edition continued the festival's established tradition: underground metal in its various sub-genres (Black, Doom, Death, Sludge, Crust) on an open-air stage and two indoor rooms of the Z-Bau, in an inclusive and clearly politically positioned setting.

The festival's self-positioning — "No racism. No sexism. No homophobia. Fuck NSBM" — is not just marketing but a programmatic foundation: bands are vetted for their backgrounds before invitation, awareness teams are present on-site, and discriminatory symbols are consistently enforced. In a metal scene that is repeatedly plagued by right-wing extremist currents internationally, this stance is the decisive differentiating factor of Zabbath.
