Overview

The 2025 Wottelfest took place at the end of August in the Essen district of Heisingen. As every year, the organizer was the Heisingen Business Association. Three days of rides, a DJ stage, food trucks, and club stands on Bahnhofstraße, Heisinger Straße, and by the old town hall characterized the district festival and the Wottelkirmes.

In late summer 2025, the Wottelfest continued its district festival tradition. The Heisingen Business Association organized three days of festivities with rides, a DJ program, and the Wottelkirmes — the combination of district festival and funfair is one of Heisingen's hallmarks.

The local press reported on the event as an important district date in southern Essen. The combination of the carrot pun (Wottel dialect) and the 'Wir-in-Heisingen' (We in Heisingen) message makes the festival a showcase for local businesses at the same time.
