The 598th Wittener Zwiebelkirmes took place over four days in early September 2025 in Witten's city center. The onion parade, sack race, Sunday with open shops, and Family Day attracted tens of thousands of visitors from the southern Ruhr area.

In 2025, the 598th Wittener Zwiebelkirmes once again set the standard for a classic German folk festival. Four days of full operation in the city center, an opening parade, the historically developed sack race with high participation, Sunday with open shops, and Family Day — Witten's city center was completely in folk festival mode.

Stadtmarketing Witten confirmed after the event that the 2026 edition will take place from September 4 to 7 and announced that the 600th anniversary edition is expected in 2027 with a likely expanded program.
