Overview

The 3rd edition of the Wir wollen Spielen! festival took place from June 10 to 15, 2025, on the HoheLuftschiff on the Isebekkanal and on the Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade. International guest performances for children aged 2 to 12, open-air weekend on the promenade, admission in the "Spiel auf Spende" format. Organizers: HoheLuftschiff e.V. and Theater Zeppelin e.V.

The 2025 edition laid the foundation for the now-established event structure: a week-long festival on board, open air on the weekend, international curation, and the "Spiel auf Spende" model. Special funding from the Eimsbüttel SPD parliamentary group enabled additional support for Hamburg's independent children's theatre scene.

The response from Eimsbüttel, the adjacent Hoheluft district, and central Hamburg was significant. Families from the districts of Hamburg-Nord, Eimsbüttel, and Altona took advantage of the week-long concentration of children's theatre guest performances, which are otherwise difficult to track throughout the year in Hamburg. The festival has thus become one of the most important summer children's theatre formats in the state of Hamburg.
