Overview

The Wildberg Schäferlauf 2025 continued the almost 300-year-old tradition. The play, the grand parade with 80 festival groups, the barefoot Schäferlauf for the crown, and the concluding fireworks marked the four-day UNESCO traditional festival in the Northern Black Forest town.

Schäferlauf 2025

The Wildberg Schäferlauf 2025, like in previous years, took place over four days in July. The traditional program was fully presented: opening on Friday, the play “Der Klosterschäfer” on Saturday, the grand parade with 80 festival groups and the barefoot Schäferlauf on Sunday, and the farmers' market and fireworks on Monday.

The custom, documented since 1723, received UNESCO status as intangible cultural heritage in 2018 — an acknowledgment that has further enhanced the annual staging in Wildberg. Today, the Schäferlauf is one of Württemberg's most important traditional festivals, attracting thousands of visitors each year from the Black Forest, the Stuttgart region, and the tourism industry.
