Spring festival in Hoya's city centre with live music, Sunday shopping, and a giant flea market on Lange Straße
The Weserfrühling is the traditional season opener for the city festivals in Hoya and is a fixed date in the event calendar of the Grafschaft Hoya. While the famous Hoya city festivals — Katharinenmarkt in September and the main Schützenfest (marksmen's festival) in summer — are the major highlights of the year, the Weserfrühling is the enjoyable, accessible start to the season.
Lange Straße is the historic main axis of Hoya's old town — with its half-timbered houses, shops, the collegiate church of St. Catharinen, and the castle, it forms an impressive backdrop for a city festival. The event extends from house numbers 1 to 52 — covering the entire historic Lange Straße and the adjacent squares.
Stages are set up at several points along Lange Straße, featuring live music of various genres — pop, Schlager (German pop music), cover bands, and regional solo artists. The program is free to access and creates the typical city festival atmosphere. There is a dedicated entertainment program for children with a bouncy castle, carousel, games, and craft activities.
A special attraction is the giant flea market on Lange Straße: private sellers and hobby collectors offer bric-a-brac, collectibles, books, clothing, toys, and antiques. The flea market attracts visitors from the entire Nienburg and Diepholz districts, making the Weserfrühling also interesting for bargain hunters.
The shops in Hoya's city centre are open for Sunday shopping. This makes the Weserfrühling an important day for local retail, combining festival fun with a shopping experience. Special promotions and offers from individual shops enrich the program.
The organizer is the Fördergemeinschaft Hoya e.V. (Hoya Business Association), an association of Hoya's merchants, restaurateurs, and service providers. This sponsorship explains the clearly economic and urban character of the festival. Contact: [email protected] / 0151 59139690.
The Fördergemeinschaft Hoya will publish the detailed 2026 program, including stage schedules and special shop promotions, in advance on grafschaft-hoya.de and nienburg-online.de.
The exact detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven highlights of previous years:
