Overview

The 2025 Michaelismesse took place in early October 2025 in Wertheim's city center. Ten days of fairground fun with an opening by marksmen's call and parade, a classic amusement program with rides, a market, and Franconian gastronomy, as well as castle illumination and grand fireworks to close. One of Southern Germany's most traditional folk festivals.

Proven Folk Festival Format

The 2025 edition of the Michaelismesse further solidified the traditional format of Wertheim's autumn fair: a ten-day fair with an amusement park, market, and Franconian catering, framed by a parade opening and a castle illumination closing. Several tens of thousands of visitors from the Main-Tauber district, Spessart, and the Franconian Maintal came to the city over the festival days.

The Wertheim city administration and market master Carmen Saalmüller organized the festival in a proven dramaturgy. The positive response and the cross-generational popularity of the event have prompted the city to continue the format in identical form in 2026 — the Michaelismesse remains the annual highlight in Wertheim's event calendar.
