Weißenburger Kirchweih
2025
Edition 2025 — Finished
Edition 2025 — Weißenburger Kirchweih
The 2025 edition proceeded as always with the classic program: beer tapping on the opening Friday, ten days of festival tent and wine village operations, boxing match evenings, dog races, stone lifting competitions, the Kirchweih cycle race on the last weekend, the flower and costume parade on the final Sunday, plus a grand fireworks display to conclude the festival.
For the people of Weißenburg, the Kirchweih is the most important local festival of the year — many former residents travel from all over Germany and even from abroad to come home for the Kirchweih. This is a tradition that has been documented in writing since 1455 and has been kept alive in its modern folk festival form since 1902. In 2025, as always, the festival attracted tens of thousands of visitors from the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district, the Franconian Lake District, Middle Franconia, and beyond. Admission is free.
