Overview

The 2025 Petri Christmas Market ran from November 20 to December 23 in Hamburg's Old Town — serving as a quiet counterpoint to the bustling Mönckebergstraße. Over 200 real fir trees, a fairytale forest, and curated handicrafts made the Advent season under the walls of St. Petri Church a firm fixture for many Hamburg families.

2025 Review

With gastronomy open until 11 PM, a closure on Sunday, November 23 (Totensonntag), and over 200 real fir trees, the 2025 edition presented the usual Nordic ambiance. The fairytale forest with its elk, dancing Santa Claus, and moving toy trains remained the main attraction for families. In the culinary section, mulled wine, roasted almonds, bratwurst, and the now internationally popular Poffertjes were highlights. A Hamburg specialty — the hot Caipirinha — complemented the classic offerings.

In the Hamburg-Mitte district, the market is among the smaller but well-attended Advent locations, standing as a deliberate alternative to larger markets at Rathausmarkt and Spitalerstraße.
