Overview

Already in the 2025 season, 'Don Quijote' in the Bavarian adaptation by Sascha Edenhofer and Sara Herbst was on the program of the Waldfestspiele Bad Kötzting. The play was performed in July and August on the open-air stage at Ludwigsberg – with the proven concept of 'Classics in Bavarian Dialect' and an ensemble of around 60 participants from the Kötzting region.

2025 Season in Retrospect

In 2025, the Kötzting Festival Association presented Miguel de Cervantes' 'Don Quijote' for the first time at Ludwigsberg. The stage adaptation by Sascha Edenhofer and Sara Herbst translated the story into a Bavarian performance version and utilized the possibilities of the open-air stage in the forest. The positive reception of the concept led to the production being shown again in 2026.

As every year, the season combined the literary source material with Kötzting's characteristic blend of dialect theatre, regional performers of all generations, and the special atmosphere of the forest stage in the evening.
