Overview
The 99th Waldfest in 2025 was used by the people of Lichtenberg as a dress rehearsal for the 100th anniversary. Proven program elements such as the parade, the festival tent with Upper Franconian tavern cuisine, the senior citizens' afternoon, and the musical program were consciously maintained – with an eye on the grand anniversary year of 2026.
As early as 2025, the organizers began calling on the public to collect memorabilia for the anniversary exhibition. The fact that Lichtenberg, with just over 1,100 inhabitants, hosts a festival of such size and continuity is not a matter of course – the Waldfest is considered one of the most important identity anchors of the Frankenwald community.
