Edition 2025 — Viehscheid Oberstdorf

The Viehscheid Oberstdorf 2025 took place in September as usual. Around a thousand cattle returned from the Bierenwang, Taufersberg, Haldenwang, Rappenalpe, and Biberalpe alpine pastures to the valley and were sorted and returned to their owners at the Scheidplatz near the Nordic Centre in Ried, accompanied by festivities with the Oberstdorf brass band.

In 2025, the Viehscheid Oberstdorf once again attracted numerous visitors to the southern Oberallgäu region. Starting in the early morning hours, the herds arrived from the high alpine pastures at the Scheidplatz near the Nordic Centre in Ried, where the approximately one thousand animals were sorted, announced, and returned to their owners. Decorated lead cows, the Oberstdorf brass band, beer in steins, and the traditional Scheidwurst sausage made the day a celebration of living Allgäu customs.
