Overview

The 2025 Viehscheid Buching took place in mid-September as usual — embedded in the Allgäu cattle drive season, which spans several weeks. Cattle drive with festively decorated prize cows, handover of cattle by handshake in the Buching tradition, festival activities with Bratwurst, Kässpatzen, Allgäu beer, and live music at the Viehscheidplatz.

The 2025 edition of the Buching Viehscheid followed the established pattern: cattle drive of the Buching herd from the high alpine pastures down into the valley, handover of the cattle at the Viehscheidplatz, festival activities with Allgäu delicacies and traditional music.

As every year, the tradition attracted people from the Allgäu region, tourists from the Allgäu, and neighboring federal states to Buching. The smaller, more authentic version of the Allgäu Viehscheid tradition made the Buching event a valued experience for tradition enthusiasts, away from the tourist crowds of the major Allgäu events.
