Overview

The 7th Urban Art Biennale 2024 expanded far into the urban area of Völklingen—with works on bridges, facades, and squares. Over 100 artists showcased murals, sculptures, and installations in the UNESCO World Heritage site and the city center.

The 2024 edition of the Urban Art Biennale was the most extensive to date—it literally broke the boundaries of Völklinger Hütte and reached deep into the urban space of Völklingen. Murals on residential buildings, sculptures in public squares, interventions on bridges and facades turned the entire city into a gallery. Curator Frank Krämer brought over 100 artists from Europe, America, Asia, and Africa to Saarland.

Programme

The 7th Biennale in 2024 showcased works over seven months at three central locations: Möllerhalle, the Hütte's open-air grounds, and the urban area of Völklingen. The focus was on large-scale murals, installations with recycled materials, and collaborative murals. An accompanying program of artist talks, guided tours, workshops, and a film series complemented the exhibition.
