Overview

The 40th edition of the Treffen junger Autor*innen took place in late November 2025 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Around 20 young authors between 11 and 21 years old, selected by an expert jury, presented their texts in public readings, participated in workshops and forums, and exchanged ideas with experienced writers. Integrated into the "Treffen junge Szene" series, the competition remained true to its format: open to all literary genres and funded by the Federal Ministry.

40th Anniversary Edition

The 40th edition of the Treffen junger Autor*innen took place in November 2025 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. This marked the 40th anniversary of the nationwide writing competition – it has been organized by the Berliner Festspiele without interruption since 1985.

Readings and Workshops

As in previous years, public readings by the approximately 20 selected prize winners formed the core of the event. Accompanying this were writing workshops, "Nahaufnahmen" (close-ups), and forums, moderated by experienced authors from the nine-member jury.

Significance

The competition is considered an important platform for young literary talent in Germany and, over four decades, has introduced numerous authors, now professionals, to the public for the first time.
