Overview

The transmediale 2025 continued the uninterrupted tradition of the Berlin festival for art and digital culture since 1988. Performances, concerts, film programs, and conference contributions took place at silent green Kulturquartier in Wedding and other venues. The focus was again on the interconnections of art, technology, politics, and global perspectives.

With the 2025 edition, transmediale continued its multi-year thematic arc, culminating in 'By the Mango Belt & Tamarind Road' in 2026. As in previous years, silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Wedding was the central venue, complemented by co-programs with the CTM Festival, whose dates are traditionally intertwined with transmediale. Performances, sound art installations, film programs, and conference panels offered a dense five-day program.

In 2025, transmediale once again confirmed its position as the most important German platform for post-digital art. Artists and theorists from all continents discussed how digital infrastructures, AI, platform capitalism, and ecological crises are transforming contemporary cultural production. The festival thus remained a central meeting point for an international scene that has its most important home game in Berlin.
