The 2025 season was a transitional year for the Torturmtheater Sommerhausen, as the venue prepared for the new directorship of Katja Thost-Hauser and Christian Peter Hauser. In Germany's smallest theatre, classically tailored productions and concerts characterized the year — with the typical intimate atmosphere in the medieval gate tower.

In 2025, the Torturmtheater Sommerhausen faced a generational change. The transitional season offered a mix of premieres, revivals, and concerts in the format for which the venue has been known for decades: extremely intimate, with direct contact between stage and audience, in the medieval gate tower on Sommerhausen's town wall.

Visitors in 2025 found in Sommerhausen the Franconian wine village between Würzburg and Ochsenfurt — a symbiosis of theatre, art (numerous galleries), and Franconian Silvaner wine. Preparations for the new 2026 season under the new directorship ran parallel to the ongoing performances.
