Overview
In 2025, Wustrow again celebrated its Tonnenabschlagen on the second Sunday in July on the festival grounds. The traditional equestrian custom, culminating in the crowning of Bodenkönig, Stäbenkönig, and Tonnenkönig, once again attracted numerous visitors.
The 2025 edition followed the established procedure: riders competed from horseback to smash the decorated barrel.
In 2025, a father and son won two of the kingly titles — a remarkable constellation that heightened anticipation for the upcoming season. The Tonnenabschlagen once again affirmed its status as a living UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Fischland coast.
