Overview

The Tonnenabschlagen Dierhagen 2025 took place as usual on the second weekend of August in Dierhagen Strand. Fireworks on Friday, parade, equestrian tournament, and Tonnenball on Saturday, family wind-down on Sunday — supported by the Tonnenbund Dierhagen.

In 2025, the Tonnenabschlagen Dierhagen once again attracted thousands to the festival grounds on the beach. The traditional equestrian game for Bottom King, Pole King, and Barrel King took place on Saturday afternoon, and the Tonnenball with live music and an open-air disco lasted until the early morning.

For decades, the festival has been a fixture in the summer calendar of the Baltic Sea resort and is one of the largest folk customs events on Fischland-Darß-Zingst — and has been on Germany's UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2017.
