The 13th Recklinghausen Zoo Festival 2025 once again gathered thousands of families from the Vest and the Ruhr area in the Stadtgarten. Animal sponsorship encounters, interactive stations, a stage programme, and the unique experience of seeing the 250 animals in the small, free city zoo marked the Sunday.

In 2025, the Zoo Festival once again confirmed its status as an important family event in the northern Ruhr area. The zoo in the Stadtgarten — one of the few free zoos in the region — opened its annual festival with interactive stations, a stage, and animal sponsorship encounters. Around 250 animals in 20 enclosures, colourful activities, and the valuable contribution to local biodiversity education make the Zoo Festival an annual must-attend event for families from Recklinghausen and its surroundings.
