In 2025, Thum again celebrated its Christmas Market with the Grand Miners' Parade on the first Advent weekend. Thousands of visitors came to the Ore Mountains to experience the mining tradition alive – miners, pitmen, and mining bands marched in historical costume through the market square on Sunday.
1st Advent in Thum
The opening of the Christmas market on Saturday by Santa Claus and the cutting of the giant stollen kick off the Advent festival. On Sunday, the Miners' Parade with over 400 participants forms the highlight – a spectacle that makes the centuries-old mining tradition of the Ore Mountains visible.
