Overview

The 14th edition of Theater der Dinge ran from October 31 to November 5, 2025, under the theme «Autonomous Objects». 18 productions, installations, tryouts, and workshops were presented at six Berlin venues: Schaubude Berlin, bat-Studiotheater, DOCK 11, Heinrich-Böll-Bibliothek, Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch, and TATWERK.

The 2025 edition focused on the theme «Autonomous Objects», exploring how puppetry relates to robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems. Works shown included «What Humanity Taught Us» by Catalan artist Karla Kracht, a choreography by Belgian choreographer Ugo Dehaes between robotics and dance, a work by a French collective that transformed the Heinrich Böll Library into a future laboratory, and a solo performance by Austrian artist Silke Grabinger with her robot dog «Spot».

The programme was complemented by a robot workshop for families, a puppet karaoke, and the traditional festival breakfast. Six Berlin venues made the festival a small city tour — the most important practice of Theater der Dinge: to liberate the genre from the classic stage space.
