The Infinite Now — Berlin Atonal & Unsound at Kraftwerk Berlin

The 2025 edition continued the established format of Berlin Atonal — a festival for experimental and electronic music with concerts, performances, audiovisual works, and installations at Kraftwerk Berlin. Since the revival of the historical festival name in 2013 (Berlin Atonal originally started in 1982 under Dimitri Hegemann at SO36), Berlin Atonal has established itself as a central platform for drone, ambient, and industrial sound forms.

The 2025 edition laid the groundwork for the novel program logic of 2026: Instead of a classic multi-day festival, Atonal and Unsound are daring in 2026 with "The Infinite Now" to present a 30-hour continuous main event. Both festivals are responding to a development in experimental music that increasingly works with duration, concentration, and listening experiences while lying down.
