Overview
The SunsetPicknick on the Hoheward slag heap, like in previous years, drew thousands of visitors to the plateau on the Recklinghausen-Herten border in 2025. Chill electronic sets accompanied the sunset over the Ruhr area, with picnic blankets covering the plateau. The Regionalverband Ruhr again recorded record visitor numbers — the format is one of the most atmospheric open-airs in the region.
In 2025, the concept proved successful once again: a single open-air day, set against the spectacular backdrop of the slag heap, with the sunset as the emotional highlight. The 2026 edition follows the established pattern.
