Overview

The third edition of the Sternstunden Festival took place in July 2025 at the Hamburg Observatory in Bergedorf. The proven mix of classical music, jazz, electro, and astronomy confirmed the festival concept as a unique Hamburg summer event. An initiative of the University of Hamburg's music department in cooperation with the Observatory.

In 2025, the program was again spread across five stages throughout the historic grounds. During the day, classical concerts and science communication dominated, while in the evenings, electronic sets took over, complemented by telescope observations in the observatory domes.

With its observatory location and academic sponsorship, the festival clearly positions itself apart from the traditional open-air competition. It attracts an audience interested in both music and science — a growing segment in the Northern German festival landscape.
