Overview

The Spree Festival 2025 once again brought together environmental activists, scientists, and residents at Strombad Cottbus. Four days of workshops, concerts, and discussions on the water crisis in Lusatia – a festival consciously setting itself apart from pure entertainment.

In 2025, the Spree Festival again focused on the connection between culture and political issues. Workshops on sulfate and iron pollution of the Spree, lectures on the renaturation of mining lakes, plus concerts and performances – the proven format was implemented at Strombad Cottbus.

The organizers reported growing participation from local initiatives and a broad base of solidarity in the state of Brandenburg, which supports the festival on a donation basis.
