Overview

The 11th edition of the Sparda-Bank Klassik Open Air Bayreuth took place in 2025, as usual, on a weekend at the end of June on the Stadtparkett in Maximilianstraße. Two evenings of free programming – continuing the traditional concept of film music, classical music, and Wagnerian connections – once again attracted thousands of visitors from Bayreuth and the region to the city center.

In 2025, symphonic orchestras, soloists, and ensembles once again performed under the open sky on the Stadtparkett. The successful format of two thematically distinct evenings (usually one popular classical evening and one Wagner-related evening) attracted a mixed audience: Wagner fans, families, regular Bayreuth visitors, and festival tourists.

Preparation for the 2026 Anniversary Year

Program planning for the 2026 anniversary year began in 2025. With the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival in mind, the Wagner-related content for the 2026 Open Air was conceptualized – including the engagement of former scholarship holders from the Richard Wagner Foundation as soloists.
