Overview

The second edition of SPAM took place in February/March 2025 as a full festival at the Spandau Citadel and Nikolaikirche. With an extensive program, concerts, talks, and tours. Successful conclusion according to a press release from the Spandau District Office (March 2025).

The 2025 edition continued the successful premiere of 2023 and established SPAM as a regular event in the Berlin early music calendar. As in 2023, the festival ran for several weeks with concerts at the Spandau Citadel and the nearby St. Nicholas Church – both venues with historical substance offering exceptional acoustic conditions for the performance of early music.

The artistic directors (Heidi Gröger and Bernhard Schrammek) had curated a program ranging from Renaissance vocal works to 18th-century Berlin court music. The success was documented by the Spandau District Office in its own press release at the end of the festival.
