Overview
The 2025 Sommertheater of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau was the last performance at the Waldbühne Jonsdorf before the historic open-air stage undergoes renovation from autumn 2025 to summer 2027. The GHT Sommertheater 2026 will therefore move exceptionally to Zittau's Market Square.
2025 Edition — Farewell to the Waldbühne (Temporarily)
The 2025 summer theatre season marked a temporary farewell to the traditional venue: the Waldbühne Jonsdorf. The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater used the season to offer the stage and its audience one last summer before the construction phase. With the announcement of the 2026 Sommertheater on Zittau's Market Square, the transition to an unusual performance season was initiated — a creative response to the necessary renovation.
