Thursday Evening Concerts in the City Center

With its central historic ensemble, the Wildeshausen market square is one of the most beautiful squares in the Oldenburg district. With SommerSound am Markt, the city marketing department turns the square into a stage on four Thursdays in July. The concerts begin in the early evening and bring summer life to the city center — a low-threshold form of cultural event that establishes a regular date between shopping day and the weekend.

Program Profile and Opening

The series opener on July 2nd, 2026, will be performed by the Maja Acoustic Duo. The following three Thursdays will be announced in spring 2026. The musical profile of the series is deliberately broad — Singer-Songwriter, Acoustic Pop, Folk, and Soul characterized previous editions. Thus, SommerSound am Markt offers a different format every Thursday and appeals to a wide audience.

Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen

The organizer is Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen, which coordinates the entire Wildeshauser SommerKultur 2026. In addition to SommerSound am Markt, this series includes the Sunday concerts on the castle meadow, the cultural festival SpielART, the concert evening by the Thomanerchor Leipzig, and the Wild Rock Open Air.

With its dense summer program between June and September, the city marketing department aims to strengthen the Wildeshausen city center as a living and cultural space. SommerSound am Markt is the weekly format that reliably brings atmosphere to the market square.
