Overview
The 28th edition of the SommerNachtFilmFestival 2025 took place from August 4 to 29. Dozens of screenings from the current film year, classics, and documentaries were shown at around eleven venues in Nürnberg, Fürth, and Schwabach. In Marienbergpark, blockbusters and highlights were screened over 21 evenings — from "A Complete Unknown" to "Mickey 17" to "Bridget Jones".
A programmatic special feature of the year was the opening of new, rather atypical venues: in 2025, the Nürnberg waste incineration plant also became a cinema hall for the first time — an extension of the festival's philosophy of combining unusual locations with film art. Classic locations such as Tucherschloss, Hirsvogelsaal, and Pellerhof remained in the program. The associations Mobiles Kino, Kommkino, and Filmhauskino curated different focuses depending on the venue.
