Overview

The 2025 edition of the Sommergewinn once again gathered thousands of Eisenach residents around the market square. From the torchlight procession on Friday evening to the grand parade on Saturday and the concluding folk festival on the Spicke fairgrounds, the traditional custom shaped the townscape of the Wartburg town for a week.

The 2025 parade, with walking groups, drum corps, floats, and carriages, wound its way through the city center. In the market square, the dispute between summer and winter was staged, traditionally ending with the expulsion of winter. The folk festival on the Spicke offered rides, a children's program, and show gastronomy.

The Eisenacher Sommergewinn tradition has been part of the national register of intangible cultural heritage since 2014 – a status that draws thousands of visitors from all over Thuringia and beyond to the city each year.
