The 5th Skulptur Projekte 2017, under the direction of Kasper König, Britta Peters, and Marianne Wagner, presented 35 international artistic contributions in Münster's urban space — one of the most successful editions of the series. For the first time, an expanded format included contributions in the partner city of Marl.

The 5th Skulptur Projekte 2017 took place from June 10 to October 1, 2017 — featuring 35 international contributions in Münster's urban space and (for the first time) in the partner city of Marl. Curated by Kasper König, Britta Peters, and Marianne Wagner, this edition was one of the most successful in the history of Skulptur Projekte, attracting over 660,000 visitors. Renowned artists such as Pierre Huyghe, Hito Steyerl, Cosima von Bonin, Lara Almarcegui, and many others presented site-specific works. The next edition is scheduled for 2027 under the direction of the WHW collective.
