Overview
Over two weekends in November 2025 – November 14–16 and November 21–23 – the four Seamen's Churches on Ditmar-Koel-Straße opened their doors for the Scandinavian Christmas Markets. Glögg, Lussekatter, Karjalanpiirakat, Æbleskiver, and the traditional Lucia concert at the Swedish Church once again marked one of Hamburg's most atmospheric Advent events.
The 2025 edition confirmed the special status of the Scandinavian Christmas Markets: they are not a mass event, but an intimate, four-national Advent moment in the shadow of the Michel. On Ditmar-Koel-Straße, each of the four churches represented their country:
- The Swedish Gustav Adolf Church offered Glögg, Lussekatter, and the later Lucia concert.
- The Finnish Seamen's Church served Karjalanpiirakat and Salmiakki, along with Finnish knitwear design.
- The Norwegian Sjømannskirken brought Vaffler, Lefse, Brunost, and wool products.
- The Danish St. Petri Church filled the spaces with Æbleskiver, Pølser, and Hygge atmosphere.
Opening hours were Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
