Overview

The 663rd edition of Sim-Jü Werne took place in October 2025, traditionally over four days in the centre of Werne. Over 200 showmen, the large market on Tuesday, the fireworks on Monday evening, and the traditional tapping ceremony on Saturday marked the festival week.

Sim-Jü 2025 was traditionally organised by the City of Werne in the city centre, as has been the custom since 1362 — four days from Saturday to Tuesday around the Simon-Juda Day. Admission to the festival grounds was free.

The folk festival was opened on Saturday at 2:00 PM with the traditional tapping ceremony and the hoisting of the Freifahne at the market square. Over 200 showmen set up rides, carousels, and food stalls — from spectacular attractions like Excalibur and Chaos Pendulum to classic Wave Flyer and bumper car setups. The ecumenical service and the Sunday shopping (1 PM–6 PM) characterised Sunday, the fireworks display around 9 PM Monday evening, and the traditional market with around 100 traders Tuesday from 8 AM. The Sim-Jü Party in the Kolpingsaal was sold out, as in previous years. Tens of thousands of visitors from Münsterland and the nearby Ruhr area attended the festival week — laying the foundation for the 664th edition in 2026.
