Overview

The 40th festival summer of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival was celebrated in 2025 as a jubilee season. Schleswig, as every summer, was a regular venue: concerts in St. Petri Cathedral, in the Hirschsaal of Gottorf Castle, and in the riding hall were part of the festival program.

The 2025 jubilee edition marked the 40th anniversary of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival since its founding in 1986 by Leonard Bernstein and Justus Frantz. The program traditionally spanned a range from major classical works to crossover projects and discoveries.

In Schleswig, as usual, St. Petri Cathedral, the Hirschsaal and the riding hall of Gottorf Castle, as well as other venues in the Viking city, were used. The mix of sacred space and courtly ambiance has made Schleswig one of the most atmospheric festival locations in the state for years.
