Koblenz's biggest Weiberfastnacht party in a heated marquee at the Liebfrauenkirche
The Schwerdonnerstagsparty of the KCC has cult status in Koblenz. Schwerdonnerstag (also Weiberfastnacht or Wieverfastelovend) is the traditional start of the high carnival days in the Rhineland carnival. While traditionally women take over power on this day in the Rhineland, the Koblenz Schwerdonnerstagsparty is designed as a lively festival for all generations.
The venue is the heated marquee, which is set up every year right next to the Liebfrauenkirche in the old town. The central location makes travel easy and creates a special atmosphere against the backdrop of the Romanesque-Gothic church.
The KCC is one of the most traditional carnival clubs in Koblenz and part of the AKK (Association of Koblenz Carnival Clubs). With its dance troupes, the council of eleven, the prince and princess couple, and the jester's stage, the KCC has been shaping Koblenz's carnival culture for decades.
The party starts at 11:11 AM, a classic carnival lucky number. In the marquee, live bands, dance performances by the troupes, DJs, and short carnival acts alternate. Catering with beer, wine, cocktails, and snacks is provided by the club.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of a day party in the marquee with low admission and continuous catering. The detailed program will be published shortly before Schwerdonnerstag on kcc-verein.de. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
