Overview

The Schützenfest of the four brotherhoods Neuwerk and Bettrath took place in 2025, as usual in May/early summer. Four days of programme with festival opening, king's shooting, coronation ball, high mass, and grand joint parade — in 2025 with the main location in one of the two districts, alternating annually.

Schützenfest 2025

In 2025, the joint Schützenfest of the four brotherhoods once again brought together the marksmen and their families from Neuwerk and Bettrath. The grand parade on Sunday once again saw hundreds of marksmen in traditional attire, with flags and music bands, march through the main location of the year — the best of Rhenish marksmen's tradition.

The St. Barbara-Bruderschaft Neuwerk (founded 1497), the St. Matthias-Bruderschaft Neuwerk, the St. Maria Junggesellen-Bruderschaft Neuwerk-Kloster, and the Junggesellenbruderschaft Bettrath once again confirmed the strength of their cooperation in 2025.
