Bürgercorps as a Special Form of Association

The Bürgercorps Klein Ilsede is a special form of shooting club (Schützenverein) that differs from the classic Schützenverein in tradition and self-understanding. While Schützenvereine often look back on a long history, Bürgercorps are often younger forms of association with their own character. The Bürgercorps Klein Ilsede was founded in 1975 and has since built up its own festival tradition that shapes the association life of the village.

First May Weekend

The choice of the first May weekend is a conscious statement. While most Schützenfeste take place in midsummer, the Schützenfest Klein Ilsede opens the season, offering a special spring experience. The mild May weather, the budding vegetation, and the anticipation of summer create a unique atmosphere that distinguishes the festival from other Schützenfeste in the region.

Parade and King's Shooting

The festive opening is marked by a parade through the village, accompanied by music clubs and friendly Bürgercorps from surrounding areas. The king's shooting on Saturday determines the new majesties, who are then ceremonially proclaimed and crowned in the festival tent.

Festival Grounds at the MZH

The festival grounds next to the Klein Ilsede multi-purpose hall (MZH) provide the infrastructural basis for the festival weekend. The hall serves as an alternative festival tent in case of bad weather, allowing the Bürgercorps to conduct the festival safely even with changeable May weather. This infrastructure is a clear locational advantage and ensures the reliability of the event.

Social Center of the Village

For the residents of Klein Ilsede, the Schützenfest is the social highlight of spring.
